Meat Cutter/Butcher

Hours:             Full-time, M-F, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Saturdays for business need

Starting pay rate: $18.00 – $20.00/hour

Objective

Breaking down a full carcass to individual portions is an art form, requiring skill and a strong attention to detail. Our team handles up to 100 beef and bison carcasses a day.

Essential Functions

  • 1 plus years experienced meat cutting knife skills
  • Ability to identify different meat cuts
  • The ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
  • A good attitude towards continuous improvements of food safety systems.
  • The ability to follow general food safety practices (GMP’s, HACCP, SQF system)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) preferred

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand instructions.  Possess good eye-hand coordination and dexterity.  This position requires standing 7+ hours. The use hands and arms constantly.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, 40-degree temperature, and wet floor conditions.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
