Meat Packaging Line Operator – 1st Shift

Hours:                         M -F, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Saturdays for business needs

Starting pay rate:       $17.41 – $20.00/ hour

 

Objective

Responsible for successfully and efficiently driving the machine line set-up and accurate throughput of product by supervisor

Essential Functions

Read and understand product specs in order to:

  • Set-up equipment accurately and effectively for each item (proper pocket size, labels, film, lot coding, dating, etc.)
  • Run equipment, track line stoppage justifications accurately and be the line pace-setter to maximize cycles per minute with accurate product results
  • Ensure product workmanship and accuracy to spec
  • Ensure product that does not meet spec is re-worked to spec in the most efficient and efficient manner
  • Communicate constraints and successes clearly and effectively to supervisor and/or manager
  • Minimize downtime by keeping product running through the machine and offering constructive feedback to management on opportunities to improve machine run-time
  • Maintain food safety and quality standards while pushing the line’s production goods
  • The desire and ability to follow general food safety practices (GMPs, HACCP, and SQF system)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive and moving attitude whether work independently or as a team

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Bilingual skills (English and Karen) is preferred

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand instructions.  Possess good eye-hand coordination and dexterity.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing all day. The use hands and arms constantly.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, 40-degree temperature, and wet floor.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
