Portion Meat Cutter

Position: Full-Time

Hours:

Full time, M-F, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or until the work is done, Saturdays for business needs

Starting pay rate: $18.00 to $20.00/hour

Objective

A precision skill, our portion meat cutters strive to make attractive, clean cuts of meat that match customer weight specifications and minimize waste.  Work with a small team of portion cutters all motivated to attain the perfect cuts.

Essential Functions

  • Knowledge of or be willing to learn how to precisely portion sub-primal meats
  • Ability to handle knives safely
  • Must have a good attitude towards continuous improvement of own skill
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to read and write numbers
  • The desire and ability to follow general food safety practices (GMP’s, HACCP, SQF system)
  • Maintain a safe environment- Personal Safety and Food Safety

Secondary Job Duties

  • Assist on the cutting floor (boning, trimming, etc.)
  • Organize and prepare work areas and product throughout the day

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) is preferred

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, listen, retain, and follow instructions.  Possess good eye-hand coordination and dexterity.  This position requires standing and walking for up to 8 hours. The use of hands, arms, and shoulder motion continuously.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 60 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to 40-degree temperature, and wet floor conditions.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
