Position: Slaughter Floor
Hours: Full time, M-F, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm: until the work is done, Saturdays for business needs
Starting pay rate: $20.15/hour
Objective
Join our skilled team in skinning, trimming and inspecting carcasses. Our team of butchers process up to 100 beef or buffalo per day.
Essential Functions
- Good knife skills and safe handling
- Breakdown of full carcasses to half carcasses for further processing
- Timeliness and punctuality of attendance is mandatory
- Strong attention to detail
- A good attitude towards continuous improvements of food safety systems
- The desire and ability to follow general food safety practices (GMP’s, HACCP, SQF system)
- Awareness to notify supervisor of any issues
- Maintain a safe environment- Personal Safety and Food Safety
Language Skills
- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) is preferred
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand instructions. Possess good eye-hand coordination and dexterity. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, and climbing frequently. The use of hands and arms constantly for pinching, simple gripping, grasping, and push/pull with hands up to 300 pounds on a trolley, operate a vibrating tool frequently. Reach above shoulder occasionally. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move items up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a moving carcass on a rail system.
